Solution

Atlas Restoration tackled the foundation issues with a two-step approach focused on both stabilization and crack repair:

1. Wall Stabilization

To prevent further tilting and stabilize the wall, the following steps were taken:

  • Temporary Shoring: Installed to brace the wall and prevent additional movement while permanent reinforcements were applied.
  • Steel I-Beam Installation: Eight (8) W4x13 steel I-beams were strategically placed vertically along the foundation wall.
    • Secured to Footing: The beams were bolted through the concrete slab and securely connected to the existing spread footing, reinforcing the foundation's structural integrity.
    • Top Placement: At the top, the beams were installed within the joist bay, and wood blocking was added at each location for extra support.
    • Grout Application: Any gaps between the I-beams and the foundation wall were filled with non-shrinkable grout to ensure a secure, long-lasting bond.

2. Crack Repair

To mend the cracked foundation wall, Atlas Restoration implemented the following process:

  • Surface Sealing: A 2-part epoxy surface sealant was applied to the cracks, ensuring they were tightly sealed.
  • Epoxy Injection: A 2-part epoxy resin was injected into the cracks, creating a durable, watertight bond to prevent further damage or water infiltration.

The result was a fully stabilized foundation wall that is now protected against future tilting and cracking.
