What is Underpinning?

Underpinning is the method of stabilizing and strengthening a building's foundation. The construction of nearby structures necessitates the excavation of soil supporting existing foundations. It is more economical, due to land price or otherwise, to work on the present structure's foundation than to build a new one.

Underpinning is necessary for the following situations:

  • The structure’s original foundation is not stable or strong enough to securely hold your home's structure.
  • Changes in the structure and soil properties supporting your home's foundation may be detected.
  • Mischaracterization of soil properties during the planning and construction of your home.
